Dead Money

Dead money refers to money or chips in an active pot that belonged to
players who have folded antes, blinds, and even bets and are no longer in
the hand. Think about how often you’ve been in a tournament with blinds
and/or antes where you’ve been forced to “pay” for cards not worth it and
you fold. That’s where the term dead money comes from.
