This refers to what some players swear is a way to intuit what your opponent is up to. A tell is a cue, intentional or unintentional, giving away information about a hand or upcoming action. It can be verbal, physical or behavioral (conscious or unconscious) therefore providing hints/information about a players hand. These can include changes in betting patterns, physical movement in the chair, table talk, handling of chips, and eye movements/contact, etc. The latter, of course, is why many pros wear sunglasses. For more, read Mike Caro’s classic book, Poker Tells. Do you believe in tells?
