Ending a hand is actually pretty simple, but often misunderstood (or not known!). If there is no bet after the river, it’s easy. The first player to the left of the button shows first and then cards are exposed in a clockwise direction. It is not necessary to reveal your hand if beaten. How about if there is action on 5th. street? This is where it can get sticky. In this case, the last player to bet or raise is obliged to show their hand first. Once again, cards are turned up moving clockwise. As before, a player can muck his/her hand if beaten. Remember, it’s poor form not to show your cards if it’s your turn to act first. Don’t try to out wait other players. It also slows down the game. On the other hand, it isn’t a problem if you show your cards out of turn if you have the nuts. Whatever you do, DO NOT slow roll.
