I started playing poker in high school in St. Louis in the 1950s. Back then, we played serious games and frivolous ones. In the first category: 5 card draw, plus 5 and 7 card stud. Variations for 7 card stud included high spade in the hole and high-low. A perfect low back then was A-2-3-4-6, not a wheel. In the silly game category we played 7-27, dime store (5s and 10s wild), and baseball (3s and 9s wild). My least favorite though was Anaconda. Hold ‘em and Omaha…never heard of them.
