When blind levels are up in Casino 99’s poker tournaments and the lowest denomination chips are cumbersome, it’s time to “chip-up.” An example is taking your $25 chips and stacking them in a pile of four to exchange for a $100 chip. But what happens if/when you have an odd number of chips? The dealer deals a “chip race” starting with seat number one. Each odd chip from each player receives a card. All these extra chips become the pot and are distributed to the players with the highest cards. Best case is your one $25 gets you a new $100 chip. Worst case, $75 in chips receives zero chips. That seems to happen more to me than the former.
