Continuation or C-Bet

A continuation or C-bet occurs when a player raises before the flop and continues with a subsequent bet after the flop. For many players it’s become an automatic action. I’m not a fan. If your hand isn’t a monster or doesn’t improve, surely someone at the table has you beat. Why throw your chips away? There are other situations where the C-bet might not be a good strategy, e.g., out of position, facing multiple opponents, and a highly coordinated flop that misses you. However, if your hand improves or it’s a dry flop, a C-bet is called for in order to build the pot.
