I recently read Maria Konnikova’s, “How I Became a Poker Champion in One
Year.” Her coach was Erik Seidel. To me, he’s the most under the radar poker
professional around; quiet demeanor, classy, and steady. He’s earned 8 WSOP
bracelets, been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, and #4 in all time earnings
($37 million plus). My takeaway from his mentoring Konnikova was his view that
the object of poker is “making good decisions,” which of course leads to winning.
Another quote that struck me was, “You never go broke in a limped pot.”
