Ace-King, often referred to as Big Slick, is considered one of the top premium
hands in Texas Hold’em. However, it loses approximately 53% of the time to any
two cards, including most pocket pairs. Against A-A it wins only 6% of the time
and against K-K, 30%. Suited A-K (only happens 1.2% of the time) adds the
potential of a flush draw to its odds of winning. That produces a statistical tie. In
poker lingo that is referred to as a coin-flip or race. So, how good is A-K?
