David Sklansky, AKA The Mathematician, revolutionized poker by dragging
it out of the decades old way the game was played by applying
mathematical thinking to the game. Modern poker today rests on the
intellectual foundation he wrote about in The Theory of Poker. David
Sklansky died in March 2026 leaving behind quite a legacy.
